Project: BellyButton Biodiversity

An interactive dashboard to explore the Belly Button Biodiversity dataset, which catalogs the microbes that colonize human navels. The dataset reveals that a small handful of microbial species (also called operational taxonomic units, or OTUs, in the study) were present in more than 70% of people, while the rest were relatively rare.

The analysis includes the following:
  • Use the D3 library to read in dataset.
  • Create a horizontal bar chart with a dropdown menu to display the top 10 OTUs found in selected test ID.
  • Create a bubble chart that displays each sample. Display the sample metadata, i.e., an individual's demographic information
  • Create the Gauge Chart to plot the weekly washing frequency of the individual.
  • Update all of the plots any time that a new sample is selected.
